- Padma Lakshmi and her daughter are living their best lives while on vacation in Hawaii—and they’ve got a killer clip to prove it.
- In a new Instagram video, the 51-year-old Top Chef host is rocking a simple string bikini as she (literally) swings from a rope before jumping into a river. Naturally, I’m impressed because that ain’t easy—but can we talk about her incredibly fit abs?!
- Padma, who works out at least five times a week, swears by Pilates. But she also hits the gym on the reg—in addition to jumping rope for 35 minutes each day.
While you were bundling up, bracing for the last grasps of chilly weather this morning, Padma Lakshmi was literally swinging into this week—and looking fabulous while doing it!
The 51-year-old Top Chef host posted a video of herself with her daughter on Instagram, enjoying a little rope swing in Hawaii—and this is exactly the sort of mother-daughter content I love to see. Padma looks downright regal in a flower crown and a black bikini, while her daughter Krishna went for a very fashionable neon green bikini. These kids know what’s up.
“Boogie-woogie 💦 We found this wonderful secluded beach on our way north to Hanalei. Littlehands and I had so much fun playing with the rope swing and watching the ‘iwa birds (or frigatebirds) gliding and diving in the air,” Padma wrote in her caption.

Her followers appreciated the sweet moment, and of course, Padma’s rockin’ bod. “Lord have mercy. Padma 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” wrote one follower. “The ladies are having a grand time making precious memories together! Enjoy!! ❤️,” chimed another.
Obviously, it’s not just swinging and dancing that has Padma so toned. (Though I wish it was! That’s a fitness routine I could really get behind.)
She puts in work at the gym and told Women’s Health she aims to exercise at least five times a week for 90 minutes a session. Her favorite trick is jumping rope and our girl does about 2,000 jumps per day all in 35 minutes. I can’t say I’m up-to-date on the latest jumps-per-minute stats, but I am definitely impressed.

She also works with a Pilates trainer twice a week which has made a big difference in her muscle tone. “Pilates changed my body,” she said. “It made me strong in places I didn’t know I needed to be. I have a butt now that I didn’t have during my modeling career!”
Of course, she also puts in work in the kitchen. Padma told WH that she makes about 50 percent of her plate fruits and veggies, and the rest is simple carbs, starch, and lean protein. She prefers a plant-based diet when she’s not filming but said she indulges in meat, particularly chicken, fish, ground turkey—plus veal every now and again. “We cook one fresh meal a day in our home and that’s usually for dinner,” she said of her routine. “I purposely cook extra so that I will have enough for lunch.”

Some of Padma’s favorite meals to make include lasagna and lentils and rice in a sautéed vegetable curry with an Indian yogurt-based sauce called raita. And for dessert, Padma reaches for a piece of chilled dark chocolate or fruit.
Padma and Krishna, like myself, are also big on midnight snacks: “I have my midnight nacho night with Krishna probably once or twice a week,” she told WH.
